Why I'm Running for Minnetonka School Board

I want to keep what makes Minnetonka Schools great.

We are fortunate to have our children in Minnetonka schools and our family is proud to be a part of the Minnetonka community.  As Minnesota “expats”, we chose Minnetonka for the schools when we relocated six years ago - our experience has exceeded our expectations!

I want the district to focus on what has worked, and what can improve.

I believe there are five factors that contribute to high student achievement:

    1. A great curriculum

    2. Great teachers to teach that curriculum

    3. High levels of parental involvement

    4. Effective tools for teaching

    5. Student wellness

Minnetonka does a great job in each of these important areas, but there is still more to be done, especially in the area of student wellness.  I want to ensure we continue to provide the opportunity for our kids to reach their highest potential.

I’ve done a ton of research - I've talked to parents and educators, I've visited schools - and I hear concerns of all stakeholders.  I know there are areas where we can do better.  I will work tirelessly to find innovative and fiscally responsible solutions while making sure we keep what makes our district great.

As a person who has worked with numbers my entire career, I know it's incredibly important to understand the practicality and long term financial impact of the decisions we make.  I’ve been told by educators in the district that I'm not afraid to ask the hard questions.

Why You MUST Vote on November 5th

This is a pivotal election.  The board members you elect in November might be the individuals who select a successor to our current Superintendent.  This election can shape the future of our district.

For this reason, it's important that you choose candidates who have the same long term vision for the district as you do.  As a voter, it's critical that you ask candidates to give you specific answers on what they support, and what changes they advocate, and what impact those decisions will have on the financial health of the district.
